Veronica Dockter
Veronica Dockter’s story begins with her dramatic entrance into the world—born in the front seat of a car outside the hospital in sleepy eyed Minnesota. Her vibrant spirit and eagerness to embrace life echo in her artistic creations, which seem to dance in her mind until they take form.
Raised in Hibbing, MN, Veronica moved to Grand Forks in 1979 to attend the University of North Dakota, planting roots she didn’t initially anticipate. Over the years, she has embraced her identity as a multi-media artist, creating narrative-driven pieces that speak when words fail. Her art reveals raw emotion and deep truths, often drawn from her journey navigating depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other challenges. Art, along with poetry, became her lifeline—a form of therapy that, alongside her dedicated healthcare team, guided her toward healing.
For 20 years, Veronica worked as a preschool teacher, channeling the unbridled creativity and enthusiasm of her students. Surrounded by a collection of 6,000 children’s books, she found endless inspiration in their vibrant illustrations and imaginative stories. In 2025, her passion for creating was reignited by the young California fashion designer Max Alexander, whose work sparked a renewed sense of purpose in her artistry.
Veronica’s work is a testament to her soul. She blends beads, pastels, acrylic paint, watercolors, colored pencils, and collage to bring her visions to life. Her creative process is intuitive and spontaneous—whether pulling together 10 to 60 varieties of vintage and contemporary beads to craft intricate, pattern-free amulet pouches or translating her emotions into abstract drawings influenced by music, current events, and her surroundings.
Through her art, Veronica offers more than visual expression—she shares pieces of her soul. Her work is emotionally evocative, abstract, and deeply personal, creating connections with those who welcome her creations into their lives.
